>>28578630You get skill by doing things. EVH didn’t consult a forum about whether he should be making music even though he never touched a guitar. Dude literally couldn’t read music. He just kept slapping away at instruments he had at his disposal and listening to shit he loved to help inspire him and guide his process. If anything, it’s easier now that you have access to the internet and can look up whatever you want to learn about.
BREAK IT INTO STEPS
>learn to write music?Choose a guitar or program. Start messing with it. If you chose guitar first (recommended)-
>what do you like listening to? Learn those songs. Choose a song and look up the tabs or a video tutorial.
>too hard? Learn about what techniques or song sections you’re struggling with
>still too hard? Take it slow and realize Rome wasn’t built in a day. Small goals are they key to achieve big ones, keep that in mind when choosing what song you want to learn first. You can’t play “tornado of souls” if you can’t even play the “iron man” riff.
Most of all you should be doing things because you enjoy them, so don’t compare yourself to anyone better than you. Would you judge a pups ability to hunt when it’s fangs haven’t grown in yet?
You got this. Go. Now. Go try out or buy a guitar you can afford (and you know you’ll play) and strike while the irons hot. This is your sign, bro.
