It's true. I have a whole pasta of info but I'll explain the loan thing first.
Basically Hitler needed people to have kids which would create an economic boom and future tax increases and he figured the best way to do that was incentivise marriage and having children. So he made a policy where hundreds of thousands of new houses would be built and a large number of them were available only to newly married couples. A newly married couple could get a medium-sized home on a 10 year loan from the government, with no interest. Each kid they have wipes 25% of the loan and 4 kids completely wipes the loan, making that family full homeowners.
He figured that by building all these houses (as well as the infrastructure) he would generate a massive economy boom and employ millions of people, then by having a population boom, you generate economic stimulus through taxation on an increase in consumed products and in the long term, more taxpayers.
Over the course of Nazi germany, taxpayers increased by 3x and the birth rate went from 1.2 to 2.8 per family. It also turned them from the depths of post-war economic ruin to the strongest and richest economy in Europe, with the highest living standards. Was pretty amazing desu.
Can you imagine being a NEET and that happening? You have all these new jobs and cheap houses and incentives to start a family and become a homeowner in a matter of a few years. It must ahve been a NEET paradise. Also education and healthcare was completely free.
