Hi, I live in a country with socialized medicine. I will try to explain it to you how it is. >surgery wait times.
Wait times for most surgeries are over a year. With private insurance you are in the surgery room in one or two weeks at most. The best surgeons also work only for private clinics.>quality of the service
Doctors don't give a shit about you. They make you wait, respond arrogantly if you complain, and they'll try to talk you out of "unnecessary" blood tests if you're young (because they don't want to work). Everything you request them or any concern you have will be belittled and easily disregarded. This happens because you are not a customer, you are a tax paying nobody. You will never get the treatment a customer deserves because you're not one.>cost
Socialized healthcare is used ad infinitum as an argument for raising taxes. As a result, the government will entitle itself to half your income for the rest of your life. The service will get worse and worse as decades pass, and the government bureaucracy that administrates it will become more and more bankrupt. A private insurance here costs between 25-55 euro instead.
Note that although I live in Spain, I have read here similar opinions from people living in other countries with socialized medicine (UK, Italy, etc), so the problems explained here are not exclusive to my country.
