Here's the part that makes me interested in this, the kid is SURE he killed that guy Remington in the manifesto. He shot him only twice, once in the back, once in the head, In the manifest he refers to Remington as "the man I killed".

Remington "miraculously" survived.

If you are a kid who thinks you are ambushing and murdering an alien, you'd probably finish the job, wouldn't you? Why only shoot twice? Unless the person you shot is so obviously "dead" that you don't need to shoot again?

If you are a random pastor who got ambushed in a church parking lot at night and shot twice, once in the back and once in the head, how long do you think it will be until an ambulance arrives? How likely is it, do you think, that you would make it to the hospital in time with a gunshot wound to the head?

Yes. He wasn't mentally sick, which he was very adamant about during his court proceedings. The first psychological evaluation found him to be mentally ill, but all subsequent ones have attested his sanity. He's an excellent writer and a very intelligent man. Remember, he was a Harvard graduate in mathematics and became a math professor. He was also a victim of the CIA's MKUltra program, which probably fucked him up a lot.

But his writings are very good. They're not exactly "right-wing", but they are primitivist and pro freedom/self-reliance. He also perfectly predicted the collectivist-leftist movement to adopt ever more insane views because of their underlying psychology. His work "Industrial Society And Its Future" is freely available as a pdf online, and it is one of the best works I have ever read. It's short, but full of genius. I've never read anything quite like it before or after.

Do it, you won't regret it. But don't take his conclusions too seriously, or else you'll find yourself a little depressed for a while.

Most realistic explanation:
Headshot grazed the vic, body shot wasn't fatal, 10 shots missed. Vic gets taken to hospital, in order to push the "miracle" claim because selling miracles is the vic's job, they neglect to mention that the shot grazed him and instead report that he was "shot in the head".

Least reasonable, scariest explanation:
Martians are among us and they don't die when you shoot them 12 times.

You're still missing the point. Doing so would be contrary to the concept of personal enlightenment (and also cheapens it). It must be, as far as I understand it, achieved through personal and solitary means. Its not a message to be broadcasted, rather a path to discover on your own. It can also be reached through a variety of means.

Then again, it could all be bullshit. But never-the-less its something that I've always found interesting - our capacity for spiritualism in its many forms. All religion and spiritual faiths have the same goal. It is just that the methods or descriptions of getting there (and what "there" actually means) are different.

I can definitely see this type of meditation precipitating mental illness in those who are at risk. I tried transcendental meditation years ago when I was bored living and working in a remote camp looking to improve myself and get a new perspective on life.

It gave me a relaxed and peaceful feeling until one session which was extremely negative and frightening. It felt like I entered a vulnerable place and was being chastised and insulted by a potent entity with no form. It told me fucked up nasty things and it scared the shit out of me. I tried calming myself but it was like being trapped in a dark closet with the devil and when I woke myself from this state I was washed with adrenaline.

Stopped meditating after that. No mental illness thankfully, but it was very strong psychic influence and left me wondering about what the fuck happed. It felt like standing at the edge and peering down the cliff of insanity.

I have consciously tried to summon demons before and nothing happened. Conversely, my friends and I joined hands and prayed and all manners of fucked up shit happened.

I know it's hard to believe paranormal events online, but coming from an honest to god skeptic, the worst "demonic" experience I have ever had came from praying for protection from demonic entities.

I think the psychological act of admitting fear and asking for protection opens the subconscious to the idea of vulnerability. That said, all four of us had the same experience. Group hallucination is weird if that is indeed what it was.

It fucked us up so badly we stopped being friends afterwards.
