Yep, that's the point of having practical items, -1 SL turns into +0, -0 to +1
It is really marginal but it can turn the tide if you really need it
I'm not entirely sure if practical works on weapons and shields and stuff, but i assume it could? So a near miss with a practical pistol turns into a hit

There kind of isn't a point with some talents, they're not all created equal, like perfect pitch as a magic user is worth getting like 5 times because it can let you completely obliterate people with non-war wizard-able spells without having to channel

Tenacious, in my opinion should probably double the time you can withstand every time, but that's a little silly if you got it lile 3 times, but its warhammer so some houdini asshole who can stay underwater for like thirty minutes isn't too strange

Unclear, but the assumption is they can. Tome of Salvation does explicitly mention that Ulricans do undertake a vow of Celibacy, but it doesn't mention anything like that for Sigmarites - so I'd assume they can.

Pretty good. I really like the individual districts (esp. the one patrolled at night by dogs). My only complaint is the map; I was fine with the style for Middenheim and Altdorf but for some reason I had more trouble locating everything mentally. The lake is also too small according to the lore provided.

Rank wise: Middenheim (10/10) > Salzenmund (9/10) > Altdorf (8/10)

Actually I just checked and I think Andy is straight up wrong. The book describes the success or failure of Dramatic tests by SL alone; therefore only simple tests can't be improved since they don't include SL at all. Going from -0 to a +1 would be going from a marginal failure to a success. Andy Law didn't even know his own rules...

You could argue that this is easy to abuse, for example, 2 levels in the shieldsman talent, plus 20 or 30 advances split between your WS and your Melee (Basic) skill would make you more or less unbeatable, but this is a GM problem, not a rules problem. Powerful characters should be going up against wizards with 6+ levels of Perfect Pitch or Aethyric Attunement

Actually, for opposed tests it doesn't matter really if it succeeds or fails as long as it beats the opponent so that doesn't actually limit that kind of power gaming. You can get a natural -2SL while you opponent gets a -4SL and hit them. It only matters if you need to determine crit fails

do they still generate those dice if fleeing?

I'm pretty sure wizards don't if fleeing, but a wizard isn't exactly a regiment of khorne.

I don't like the standard Dragon Ogres so I was planning to convert Dracolines. Except now I've learned in my preferred system, 6th, Dragon ogres are on 40mm.

I made my dragon ogres from combining dark elf cold ones with black orcs. Worked pretty well. Fits the 40mm bases nicely, too.

ok, and? a larger base is a disadvantage to you
the difference between a front of 120mm and a 150mm is going to be negligible
are you really more afraid of your dragon ogres getting charged on the flank or hit by cannons than you are willing to have them look better?
also I think the forelegs of the current dragon ogres is the only real part that needs fixing, the rest of their sculpts are fine

Both guys go pretty cav heavy, go WoC since theyre easier to learn, dark elves are stronger once you master them but the learning can be rough

WoC on the other hand start of pretty solid, theyre not as abjectly braindead to play as dwarfs, ogres or empire or whatever, but big stats means big wins.

You know, I was wondering which would be easier to learn, for sure. I figured WoC was more forgiving of mistakes, but the lack of ranged combat ability had me a little worried. Even still, I kinda want to build a custom terrain piece for my lord of a pile of skulls that I can fill up as he kills people in Challenges or wins battles.

Ran my first session of WFRP (4th) the other day. Had a great time and the players all enjoyed it even more than I'd hoped. Everyone's pretty hyped to keep playing. They're even asking me for extra stuff to read, which never really happened when we played D&D. I think the setting being so flavourful really helped them get more into it even though only one of them was a Warhammer fan before hand.
Actually running it is a bit intimidating because there's just so much to read and remember with both the lore as well as the game system. I feel like I'm going to need to make some custom reference sheets to keep track of everything. If any GMs are reading, how do you do it?

Print out/take screenshots of the crit tables, conditions, combat difficulty table, and the stuff you can spend advantage on from up in arms.

Most importantly, just read the books. You'll get a good grasp on lore and rules in no time.

WoC are slightly easier to buy for a cavy army, although A LOT of AoS models for the Delfs are ports from WFB or at least compatible they're mostly for the which elf line with Morathi. AoS Cnights are basically the same as the WoC ones, some people complain about how they're impossible to rank up but I've seen it done enough to know it's not 100% true, maybe tricky, but doable. Plus they look quite good.

Yeah, sounds like the thing to do. I really prefer physical books but the way C7 have published things so far makes it seem like they expect you to be doing most things digitally. Doing the Starter Set with our own characters to begin with. I need the hand holding while we get used to everything. But I'm planning on mixing in heavy amounts of my own stuff as well as random published adventures and one-shots as appropriate. The players are all getting into the world and their characters so I expect I can let them figure out which hooks to bite and adjust the campaign goals from there. It's how I usually run RPGs.

The Imperial Zoo has some quick templates you can just slap on NPCs. I definitely would recommend making a custom stat block for any major antagonists, like giving a Khorngor a few careers in Pit Fighter and maybe a trait like Big.

you should also still be able to find island of blood in facebook trading groups, you can also get stl printed by any of your local services using stl for skaven found in telegram groups or by emanG for free models ripped and tweaked from total war, they're rough, but they can be very useful as cheap basis for stuff like rat ogres and skryre infantry)

I do have a wood elf army but it's mostly in the sprayed staged at the moment. I went for a winter theme though so it's pale greys, browns and blues which isn't the classic colours. It's also mostly 'new' 6th Ed plus models.

Bootlicker mentality.

The only thing that matters when discussing canon is how often the information gets reused and referenced in later works. For example; Drachenfels keeps popping up across Warhammer lore, so we can say thar character is canon. However, vampire dwarfs only seem to appear as a single side character in the Drachenfels novel and other information implies that only humans can be vampires, so we could say that vampire dwarfs is less canon.

Nothing stamped by GW and given their approval for production is 'Not' canon. Just 'Less'.

Thank you anon! Im nearly finished a long anticipated leadership bomb list. Built around Bloodwrack Shrine ideas, and other uncommon models, including a beastmaster/manticore and kharibdyss. I was to trigger as many static leadership effects as possible, including march blocks, magic/shooting panic, and terror checks. All exasperated by the shroud of despair spell. Not really related to your question, but did this come about in AoS or was it ever implied beforehand?

But to answer your question I think most of the Elf Gods are probably either created by the Old Ones or straight up parts of their warp presence that have become their own things (though I suppose there's not much of a difference). The other gods are either ascendants or people worshipping a different aspect of that God for so long that that aspect becomes its own thing in the Warp. E.g. Mathlann gets worshipped by the Humans with their own pre biases and eventually that version they worship becomes its own thing over time and became Manann in the Aether.

an argument could be raised on the account of certain legends recounted in the RPG where many gods, even human ones or sotek, seemed to be already present at the time of the great catastrophe; or on the commentary of the writers in other interviews where they talked about the warhammer world as one of a number of worlds where the old tried the same big "experiment"
but the legends are still in-setting myths*, said commentary always seemed more like parallel versions than one with a linear continuity between them, and the end times thing didn't seem to really reference any of it so it's more likely just something out of the blue

*we could say that the end times thing is also unreliable because coming from an elf and they like myths, poetry and metaphors more than history, accuracy and objectivity, even among themselves
similar discourse for the "the lady is just an elf", something people think the end times made granted and undeniable despite there being a lot of space for precisations that unfortunately were never made

That being said the best thing to do is just to ignore both as 90% of Fantasy fans do.

there are some problems with that:
there's a very strong convergence of the names themselves
there's a cultural connection between the southern old worlders and the elves due to the former building their civilisation on what the latter left
there's in-setting speculation of this divine adoption having happened and that's usually one of the ways the writers wink at the reader
also a parallel to how gods were historically passed on and renamed from Mediterranean culture to Med culture
and lastly, there isn't much in terms of old ones getting in touch with the primitive humans that became the old worlders

but yes, it's also technically possible that they made their gods on their own looking at the manifestations of the old ones and merely adopted the names the elven versions
but I find the idea that they looked at the elven versions way more likely

Aren't elfs persona non grata in most of Tilea? In the population charts for the region there was a frighteningly high % of places with the observation "elfs are not welcome here". On that topic I always wandered why, the Helfs have several ruins there so I guess "expedition teams" may have clashed with the locals over them? I mean, it's not like the Welfs would just cross the skaven-infested Vaults just to start some shit against people that aren't even in any position to threaten Athel Loren, and anyone who spends any length of time near Helfs (like Tileans presumably would, like Marienburgers do) should be able to tell Delfs apart since they make absolutely no effort to not dress like massive edgy retards.

There's no recorded instance of a vampiric Skaven in the setting, to my knowledge, but we do know a few things;
>1. Vampires can only be human.

Based on that, unless you personally believe that, say, a Necrach vampire lord couldn't possibly be as good a Necromancer as Nagash was thousands of years ago, then there's no reason they couldn't be experimenting on Skaven in an attempt to recreate the vampiric affliction in other races.

It's headcanon, but personally I think it's headcanon that works within the confines of established lore.

To me the greatest obstacle to that isn't even skill (vampirism was Arkhan's IIRC), but motivation. Vampires are naturally greedy and possessive, Necrarchs doubly so due to the potential their magical holds, so what could possibly compell one to devote so much time and resources to providing power to a race different from his own since he won't be exactly able to enjoy the fruits of his labour? At least Nagash and Arkham had the pretense of being testing what works and to what degree in the pursuit of immortality in Humans (such as themselves) by flinging shit at a wall and seeing what sticks.

In lore, stuff like this pops up more often. The practical answer is "It's a game for selling minis" and intersectionality like that tends to be the bane of nice, crisply defined armies. But at the end of the day, it's a game of /Your Dudes/ - if you've got the patience and the creativity, there's nothing really stopping you from making ANY sort of army.

They can. Only minis we ever got was for that one Dogs of War unit, but there's nothing stopping people from using skaven skeletons, to my knowledge.

He wouldn't be a Blood Dragon or Lahmian for obvious reasons, so it's either Necrarch (which fits given clan Moulders and Skryre's affinity for experiments involving the union of flesh and machine) or Strigoi (which fits with their bestial and furtive nature). At least, that's how I see it

the general excuse is that vampirism is designed for and by humans, so transferring rarely, if ever, to other races
vampires reside mainly in the old world, so the human bodies are the most widespread and available
the 4 chaos gods are the biggest, so you don't hear about the others much or the others get made into interpretations of them
and goblins and skaven are too untrustworthy to start collaborating

but this, as I said, are excuses for GW model ranges, not real limits for someone who wants to homebrew something

I like to place the collaborative subfaction of cave goblins and skaven somewhere under not!mexico, where they have giant bats as divine idols and dabble in a form of necromancy derived from warpstone juiced mushrooms
I like to also imagine a citadel of "chaos warriors of order gods" (not really the order gods worshipped by the old worlders, but more abstract things) guarding the confines of the south pole and going on raids from there towards the northern chaotics marching through the chaos gate

I like the idea that clan Eshin might specifically have assassins dedicated to hunting down and eradicating undead skaven when they pop up. Feels like a potentially existential threat to the ratmen, given the sheer mindboggling numbers of skaven corpses that they might have access to.
