Interesting (if not really relevant to the board) question… my gut response is to reject the idea out of hand, because it is traditional for covert operatives not to be massive self-promoting attention whores, but rather to operate behind the scenes, in much-lower-profile ways. I know at least two people I am almost certain were spooks in the past, and they’ve both got boring (and sometimes vague) official life stories related to dull aspects of international business (a lot of which coincidentally happened to be conducted in strategic places at eventful times).
But they’re both quite old people now, and perhaps agents move in different spheres these days, so I suppose I can’t just rule it out.
Still seems damned unlikely, though—you know that authorities in places that want spying on are at least aware of people with public profiles broadcasting from their territories, if not actively monitoring them. if you get rumbled you don’t want to be constantly broadcasting where you are and what you’re up to, even if it is just a front, because when they come to get you they at least know exactly where to look. I think the fact that no high-profile vloggers have been disappeared that I can think of makes me doubt this is a thing.
