Opiates, nicotine, alcohol and a couple other substances fit the definition of human addiction, where your health will decline if you do not get said substance anymore, possibly resulting in death. And no, having trouble sleeping for a week after not smoking weed isn’t a true decline of health from lack of substance. A truly addicted human body will literally start shutting down systems if it can’t get alcohol, opiates, etc.
