Marvel/Harry Potter are first and foremost for profit. Any value you give it
them after that is you being its target audience. Any less is a by product or thinking it will sell more.
Myths weren't told with the intent of fleecing someone's pockets, they were told as a means of instilling values through generations. They were also regularly directly integrated into religion, which was the primary way the ancient world understood it's environment.
