I wish there was a way to knock some sense into Koules and Burg's head. They seem like nice guys who genuinely care about the series but I think they have the wrong idea about making half of every movie flashbacks. A vocal minority (of incredibly low IQ fans) unironically think each film should be loaded with flashbacks "because Saw is about flashbacks". Saw became so flashback heavy because of shitty writing, not because that's the point of Saw.
Confirmed flashbacks will be the murder of Logan's wife and Logan getting Edgar's body into Kramer's coffin, two flashbacks I'm actually excited and interested in seeing, but I really don't give a fuck about watching Kramer and Logan setting up traps and talking about Jigsaw's autistic philosophy. But you just know there'll be about fifteen minutes of these boring fucking scenes. Tobin Bell needs to be dropped entirely, brought back from the dead or reserved for one top tier pivotal flashback every movie.
They set up a lot of great stuff in Jigsaw which can have really cool payoffs in the sequels, but they also anchored themselves into another clusterfuck of boring Kramer training apprentice flashbacks. I don't know if Stolberg / Goldfinger have the sense to keep these scenes as concise and relevant as possible.
