If there is indeed some immortal part of the human organism, some soul or information which persists after we die in some form of afterlife. I posit to you then why can't love transcend death? Is not a bond between two hearts stronger than a temporary change in states?
Unless of course love is merely a chemical illusion for the purposes of reproduction and the dead are free of such derangement. Or perhaps physical death coincides with ego death as we rejoin a larger collective entity.
