You have to understand that just because a church is christian, it doesn't have why to be the mainstream thing. If christians were honest, they'd accept that the teaching is corrupted.
Truth is hard to come by, see I always suggest to learn some functioning occultism and to be very skeptical when embarking on a spiritual journey. During my life I tried mainstream christianity (this is a dead end) hinduism (possible to attain some insight with it), buddhism (don't take refuge if you want actual progress) and bits of taoism, along with a generous and liberal dosage of occultism.
I ended up a Gnostic Christian, of the Celtic variety, the reason for this was none other than it materializing itself before me after much trial, error and more important, intelligent deceit -call it makyo if you want -->look this word up- (the world is illusory, much like hinduism says and it will deceive you -satan-).
