Febreze spray, specifically the one for carpets instead of the air freshener. Also, using some type of arm and hammer or equivalent powder on the carpet. You spread it all over the carpet, let it sit, then vacuum it up. If that doesn’t fix the problem rent a carpet shampoo machine

Odoban eucalyptus spray. It'll take a few applications but it'll get just about any stink taken care of carpet.
The delicious mix may have seeped into the backing off the carpet and possibly into the padding, might have to replace the section of pad and have the carpet stretched back in.
