My long term gf keeps creating boundaries that I feel are less about respecting her but are more about control. She'll often say things like "if you follow X person I'll break up with you", "If you have X opinion I'll break up with you".
Recently I told her how in my journey to helping my mental health I was thinking of looking into religion almost as last ditch effort, and she said she'd break up with me because that would be crossing a boundary she has because she's an atheist lefty.
It's uncomfortable because I almost feel like she's using fear of breakup as a controlling move, and there's no conversation or compromise to be had when she ends her statement with "or I'll break up with you".
What do anons think?
