The skin whitening is just her striving for perfection and is something completely different than implying she's ugly for having a tan.
She's asian too, so light skin is seen as more desirable there. Her feelings towards fans' skin colour would have nothing to do with her self image.
People being offended by Korean culture's ideals is what is tone deaf in my opinion.
Now, personally, I also think asians being this obsessed with the colour of their skin to the point of getting injections to lighten it, is a bit asinine, same with the whole plastic surgery industry in Korea; but this has absolutely fuck all to do with her being insensitive/racist towards people with a darker skin tone and everything with local (and to me fucked up) beauty standards.
But even though I disagree with these ideals, I wouldn't get mad with the artist about it. Maybe just slighty disappointed but that's all.
