Cant get your license until 18 in Finland but you can get a moped / minibike / 4 wheeler / snowmobile license at 15 so its a way for the teenagers to get around with more than a bicycle. Pic is the most dubious vehicle I have operated. A clapped out goped with wheels worn down so much they were basically square profile. Was a religious experience at 20mph.

The fun factor aside, is there any reason not to get some <200cc dirt bike instead of a mini bike? It seems like it serves the exact same role with way better ergonomics and without having to deal with some chink shit monkey knockoff or the ludicrous price of a really monkey.

Street legal and maintenance intervals. A grom is going to require much less work than a dirt bike, especially if you ride a bike hard.
