Trump's very first business venture on his own (independent of his biological father) was the Hyatt hotel. He got $360M from the government for it even though it was only a $120M construction project. Trump was a government welfare queen from day one.
He then proceeds to get in bed with folks like Joseph Weichselbaum. Weichselbaum ran the company that provided helicopter shuttle service between NY and the NJ casinos Trump got into. It's a strange selection of a business partner because Weichselbaum was already a convicted felon and gambling licensing laws strictly prohibit association with any convicted criminals. So Trump is really sticking his neck out on this one.
Then, Weichselbaum gets popped by the DEA for cocaine trafficking. His case is transferred to NJ when it should have been in either NY or FL (home or place of business) and the judge selected for the trial is Maryanne Trump Barry, Trump's sister. Weichselbaum gets a sweetheart deal of 18 months and moves into Trump Tower after the conviction.
Trump also gets in bed with notorious CIA arms trafficker Adnan Khashoggi and has since said he read everything Khashoggi ever wrote. They spend a lot of time socializing and so on. Adnan Khashoggi was a major figure in the Iran-Contra deal (cocaine for arms), big time CIA player.
