>>168907599Except that the Russia pee incident got traction from somewhere outside of the intelligence community. It’s known that Christopher Steele, hired by Fusion GPS, paid in part by Hillary Clinton (can’t remember if it was the Clinton Foundation, the DNC, or out of pocket), who compiled opposition research against Trump in the form of a dossier, which included the pee incident along with other sensationalist material.
With the Comey memos going public it’s now known that Comey briefed Trump on the fact that news outlets like CNN had what was stated in the Steele Dossier and that they could publicize the information. Though Buzzfeed was the first to break the dossier, CNN used the fact that Comey had briefed Trump as an excuse to go public with it because they saw that act as giving the dossier some legitimacy.
So if /pol/ was indeed responsible for the story, it would have to mean that the story had to get to Christopher Steele, which is possible, but is not the same thing as saying the story circulated internally. If it circulated internally it would be pretty easy to trace back to the origin, but that’s not what happened; instead it was brought forth by a foreign (British) spy, perpetuated by American media outlets clearly biased against Trump, with the justification that an intelligence agent (Comey) knowing about it without having done any investigation legitimizes it.
