I also read this not long ago in a book. It's the sun's corona like in pic related that produces the Egyptian bennu bird like wings during solar eclipses. "Rebirth" of the Sun so to speak.

This year we do not see the Corona shit because it is annular eclipse, not full eclipse. 2001 was full I think.
