it's actually a really nice, safe city in general. i grew up in a city that was basically 50/50 white/black, though, where the Dem leaders decided to spread Section 8 housing throughout the city instead of leaving it concentrated in the ghetto, so no matter where you lived there was the constant threat of niggers kicking in your door. so my standards are pretty low.
the Alley of Peace dude lived literally like one block over from the central homeless shelter headquarters for the state that houses like 100+ hobos. that's the only part of the city i ever see more than one nigger at a time and is covered in garbage. if you go one more block in any direction it's the nightlife/club district.
