Jebel Ali Seaport hit with massive explosion, mushroom cloud seen from 7 miles away, someone happened to be filming for some reason at the moment of the explosion.

Happened just after 1am local time, about half an hour ago.

Could it have been nuclear? Would they tell us at this early stage?

Al-Jaz viewership hasn't budged much but I wouldn't be surprised if they went to air with this, still no word on how bad it is... they said it was an oil tanker, which implies possible oil explosion but notice how there were no flames after the initial blast, at least none that you could see from 7 miles away

I tend to think that if it were nuclear someone at USSF would have leaked something about a doubleflash detection... Now, if it was a dirty bomb... maybe Iran thinks it won't be able to complete a nuke so they wanted to drag a radioactive cloud over UAE?

The initial flash was conveniently edited out by whomever made the video. Clearly the video was rolling the whole time and they left out the initial moments, VERY odd. I'd say whoever was recording was an insider.

Also, what else is going on? Infrastructure hits in the US for example have closely correlates with these sorts of events in the past year (our pipeline cyberattack, power grid failure in Texas -- both lined up with military action in Israel and the Ukraine).
I am sure not JUST the US, but that is where I am, so they are easier to see and match up. These events don't appear isolated -- as if one is happening to distract resources from dealing with the other.

(1) is plausible I think. It's a large city. People occasionally video tape skylines. The odds of at least one camera being pointed in the right direction within a 5 mile radius is high (flash to bang, that was the distance -- and it rattled windows!)

According to this, the explosion was actually at 11:45pm local with people filming for a while because smoke was visible for some time. The ship was evacuated, no casualties.

Right, clearly they were able to send firefighters back in after the bulk of the oil ignited, which would never happen with a nuclear event of any kind.

So probably not as big of a deal as we thought, but it won't be the last one of these as long as Iran is still out there doing its thing. They are much closer to having a working device than anyone knows.
