So people are souls. When you die your soul dies, because a soul is another name for who you are.
However some people are capable of containing the spirit of Yahweh within them.
Adam was the only man (adamh) given this ability. He seedline (Adam-ites) have this ability.
All other people in the Bible are (iysh) mortal and without the ability to hold the spirit of Yahweh within.
Jesus was called the Son of Man (Adam) and Matthew traces his genealogy back to Adam in the very first chapter of the New Testement.
Why? Because only the seedline of Adam through Noah to Abraham and Isacc have this ability because they were pure in thier generations.
The bible IS the book of the generations of Adam. (Gen 5:1)
Jesus tells us that he only came for the lost tribes of Israel and Paul tells us that Israel is ONLY the people of the Covenant Promise as reckoned by their bloodline from Jacob Israel, son of Issac, grandson of Abraham.

She's a happy little soul. Some poor soul had fallen 500 yards to their death.
Soul =/= Spirit
This is why these people do not have an internal monologue.
