Churchill sent warships down the Mersey to break up union strikes, Thatcher wanted to put the city into "managed decline", wherever we go we get faced with the same memes and lazy stereotypes in England despite having a significantly lower crime rate than other large English cities.
I look outside Merseyside, and I see a nation of scared, reactionary, right wing dipshits. Who are still unable to move forward because they haven't realised the British empire ended a long time ago, and still LARP that they fought in WW2 even though they weren't alive during it.
I don't feel any connection to the country I was born into, because their values are so fundamentally opposed to mine, I feel connection to Liverpool
