>>31726604>I like the recons as it shows the Emperor wasn't some brilliant awesome majestic being who could do no wrong, it shows he could make mistakes.
Yeah, I thought that was an interesting idea too. The first time it was done. Now it's in every cockshitting book with fuckup piled on top of fuckup so that the writers can wring cheap drama out of "by MY special snowflake was right all along and his dad was mean!" McNeill and ADB are by far the most egregious defenders with shit like Nikaea being rewritten so that everyone's IQ drops to below their shoe size. Should the Emperor be perfect? No, of course not, but by the same token he should've be such a complete fuckup that you have to wonder how the Great Crusade even got off the ground because he's so fucking bad at everything he touches.>It also shows that the Primarchs turned had actual reasons rather than "fuck it, lets turn."
No, it does the OPPOSITE of that. The HH series takes all choice away from the Chaos primarchs and infantalizes them, making them poor little babies who were at the mercy of their evil rampaging dick of a father who would erase them and wreck their legions if they fucked up and bawww I never wanted to be a soldier I just wanted to grow flowers and write books and I'm so saaaaaad. There's no give and take in the series any more, the Chaos primarchs are all scrubbed clean of character flaws and everything is blamed on the Emperor and terrible childhoods. Stuff like Angron forcing the World Eaters to use the Nails is scrubbed out, Perturabo being a raging dick is played down, Magnus being a self-deluded ass is played down, Lorgar being a psychotic religious nutjob is played down in favor of showing the mean bad Emperor bulldozing one of his favorite planets in front of him while the series quietly forgets that the Word Bearers routinely tortured populations to death to force worship of the Emperor.
