(I never like to speak of myself)
But I am that DM! My players love to tell my how much I can freak them out, and how they tell others about the sessions I run.
I run my own homebrew system thats a mix of 3.5 and Call of Cthulhu with some of my own magic.
I was running a game set in Napoleonic Spain during the brutal French invasion that killed as many as 1,000,000 Iberian civilians. So it was a very grim world the players were in.
The big thing that inspired this whole adventure was my love for Francisco Goya and his very tragic portrayal of the actions taken by the French soldiers in Spain.
I based a lot of encounters off of almost all of his works.
the best one that the players speak of to this day was based on pic related.
I love to have ost ready for certain encounters and this was the one used for this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3M180ASSaq0&t=127s
(starting at 2:07)
it was a good horrible 30 minutes of build up before they finally got the fight. The reveal was sudden and the san rolls were everywhere.
So much of Goyas work has horrible cryptids and beasts in them, it was maybe the best game I ever ran, we had near 30 sessions before the tragic burnout.
