In terms of personality, the selfless and well intended Less is an extremely good match for Liz. Sure he's an idiot, but that just helps open up storytelling opportunities (i.e. helps with personal growth). You could argue that someone smarter, more mature, but still extremely justice autism-y would get along better, but I feel there wouldn't be as much room for personal growth- like if a pair fits each other too perfectly, there just isn't enough room improve the relationship. So, Less is honestly ideal.
For Combat... Admittedly, Less's MEoDP could help Liz deal with conceptual defenses, but it honestly doesn't make up for flaws imposed by his crippling master potential. Someone with a good support magecraft would probably be better, like August's death substitute dolls, or at the very least a super circuit chad like Sabile that could bump her crazy stats even higher.

I frankly know nothing about Lostbelts, so my only source of information is this sentence. And frankly, she simply doesn't have it in her to harm anyone that isn't actually evil. Best case scenario, maybe you could get her to focus on taking out an explicitly evil sub-set of that planets people, but it's just as likely that she'd dig her heels in and advocate finding an option 3, not giving up on saving both worlds even on threat of death. Really it comes down to the fine details.

She sits quietly off to the side and let's someone else handle that. Also, unless the good fights are inside the building, she's fine with being left outside.

Anyway, that's actually quite the issue for her. It's probably going to be an issue until she settles down and finds a kenn- a house. Until she finds a house.

Now that is a question. Definitely not Prisma Illya- too lewd. Honestly, I don't have a solid answer- I don't actually watch much of the genre. Probably the kind that can overcome all obstacles with the power of friendship- maybe talk monsters down instead of just killing them.

Liz could learn some techno-magecraft from NR. It seems like something she'd find interesting.

Bree cares more about the strength of character than blood. She genuinely doesn't see the difference typically, but the people who keep challenging her (and failing) are worthy of respect regardless of their status.

I imagine the family is more or less the same too, since I don't feel like there's anything stopping a muggleborn from being a grand duelist or a strong fighter with enough practice. And they may be even better at it than a Pureblood since they will have to adapt to less perfect circumstances.

Oliver's family is a victim of pure-blood supremacy's ills, as while they themselves are a pure-blooded line, their inability to produce an heir of quality has reduced them to the situation they find themselves in now, in massive debt and poverty.

Oliver himself, in the beginning, does not try to associate with people that might "taint" his supposed pure blood, but as he gets into the newspaper business and gets over his inability to be good at what his family is known for, he'll become much more lax about it, perhaps even envying those who do not have the burden of a bloodline on their shoulders.

Might also grow a distaste for society as a whole but that's not going to lead into anything, unless something puts him down enough, which I don't think is too possible with our current cast.

Henry probably doesn't care so much about it normally. But there is a risk of entering the "evil route" if he gets pushed on the topic too hard. Capturing and draining people to compare if the "Pure Blood" differs when it comes to magical properties.

So, I wonder if we could make the setting some kind of 'artificial academy island' kind of deal. Somewhere that's country neutral so that any nationality makes sense- that way, every build can be from different nationalities without it being weird. Otherwise, if we picked Brazil, but then 3/4 of the PCs (and therefore the cast of characters) all end up being transfer students, it'd be really jarring. To me at least.

I mean, yeah. I just figured the artificial island would be on the bigger side. The one from the movie had like 10,000 people. If you had an even bigger one with like 100,000 people, it's already on the scale of a tiny country, so naturally you'd have crime.
Though I'm not sure why I said artificial island, an actual unnamed island somewhere would work just as well.
Main point being that I wasn't picturing just a school floating in the middle of the sea. You'd have businesses, sights to see, residential districts, a large wilderness area, and maybe even a slum. Like a small country in the sea, that happened to be a good place for a high-end international hero academy to be founded. That's the kind of thing I was picturing.

For personality, Servants like Liz and Baldwin (for understanding their dedication to humanity) or Bheithir and Caveman (she gets to ignore her charm debuff and pampers them). Narratively, the former work better.

Battle wise I'm not sure. She'd try to tailor herself to support whoever she was paired with.

Okay i have already explained what the pruning phenomenon is with that Fortuna backstory discussion right? Timelines that are too different from the norm get cut by the World and eventually cease to exist. A Lostbelt is one such pruned world, being sustained by a Fantasy Tree, a creation of the Beast 7, the Alien God. The only thing keeping the world stable is the Tree, and to guarantee their existence the Lostbelt must grow, consume all other Lostbelts and destroy the regular timeline to make itself the real one.

So it really is a matter of "us vs them". The only way for both the Lostbelt and our world to survive is to destroy all others (From our perspective, the 7 Lostbelts, from theirs, all other 6 lostbelts and our world). We joke about genociding them, but that isn't exactly what happens, we don't go around murdering everybody, we just destroy their Fantasy Tree, which means they'll be erased from existence.

The Camelot difficulty spike is pretty well known, it's actually still considered one of the harder story chapter because of this. Mostly because it's the first chapter to have actual boss fights that aren't just demon pillars or servant with inflated, things get a lot easier afterwards until Shimousa and then being super difficult becomes the new normal.

Maybe one of the artificer ones could be taking a perk from any other archetype? Like pay 15 points then full value (70) and get furioso?

Maybe one for getting loads of bullets where you can carft a bunch more bullets at once for the same price because reasons. Be it a tax break or whatever.

Camelot is a pain, but it teaches some good lessons if you're in for the long haul (Mostly one big lesson about abusing anti-trait buffs). If I can offer some unsolicited advice, it would be not to rely to much on your friend list for damage. It was a trap I fell into, which led me to only level support servants so I could skip a lot of the progression and speed through the story, but when Lostbelts and Shimousa came with Forced Story Supports it hit me like a truck.

It was just too broad and required too many suboptions. I wanted a template that would fit powers like Ida's and Jiro's, so I made Gimmick Body, but it wasn't enough to cover stuff like Gran Torino's or Burnin's quirks. So Natural Weapon covers the combat oriented stuff like fire hair, and Enhanced Mobility is for stuff like flight, wall-crawling, water-walking, engine legs, etc.

Anti-trait buffs as in those from Command Codes or should I somehow look for Servants that gave those? For now I've been using Heracles that I got as my first servant as my main damage dealer (lvl 98/100, with attack and hp buffs at a bit over 1000, and for that item the one that gives him immunity for some attacks, but increases the damage he takes after), but support servants help in Camelot as I sometimes come a bit short on damage if I get unlucky cards so I feel like my other servants are lacking as they are lvl 80 only (and Mashu at 60). I was referring to Servant that deal extra damage off enemy traits. Euryale, a 3 Star Archer with huge damage bonuses against male servants, is available on the Friend Summon and is how most people got through Camelot. Heracles is a really good Servant, but I'd advise you to be a little more stingy with Grails, they aren't a cheap investment, and get harder to come by after you finish the story. Developing your roster is complicated to plan, and your pretty much guaranteed to regret your choices no matter what you do unless you've already played through the story on multiple accounts, so don't worry about it to much. Just don't burn Servants unless you've already gotten them to Noble Phantasm Rank 5 and mistakes can be fixed with time (unless you desperately need rare prisms, but considerations on which Rank 4 and ups to burn are too much to get into here).
Don't take anything I say as a golden rule, but many people like to use Herc as a "Last Stand" Servant, which is to say they leave him in the back line so he doesn't come out until the rest of the team is dead. They do this because if you only have one Servant left and the enemy activates their Guts buff it automatically ends their turn, and Herc gets a stacking Guts buff off his Bond 10 Craft Essence, so he can last several turns alone, even soloing certain bosses.

So far I used Herc a my opening because with his high damage he was able to clean up the enemies fast and with the craft essence the vulnerability of a Berserker was mitigated. I'm still far away from bond 10, but when I get them to might move him into backline. How do you level up so many different servants? I'm low on xp cards. And I've been burning those low level servants just to make space. Are low star servants even useful? I thought the higher stars are much stronger (just by gacha sense).

Very useful, just more situational. FGO's balance is a little wonky, 4 and 5 Stars are generally stronger, but many low star servants have a focus on a specific niche where they can actually overcome their higher rarity counter parts. The archer on my list, Arash, is actually top tier for his ability to instantly clear the field while killing himself, effectively letting you skip the first wave while maintaining team comp. He's very useful for ember farming, which is how you get EXP cards. You can get EXP cards by doing events too, but the bulk come from Daily Quests in the Chaldea Gate tab. Look for the set quests titled "Ember Gathering", they change classes each day.

To be honest, Liz herself would have no interest in the grail. She'd probably allow herself to be summoned because 'it's never JUST a holy grail war', and she'd be seeking out whatever unnecessary threat got added into the chaos while doing her best to protect the normal citizens.
Narratively, I think she'd be absent for like the first half, and suddenly show up later to help introduce the true threat to the MC. And then near the end, she heroically martyrs herself in proper grimdark Meguca fashion. So she's more of an important side character.

Medea/Kuzuki has to be Lucia/Fortuna, a servant without much direct combative power relying on strategy, and a master who goes on the frontline being able to beat up servants.

By that measure, i think Helios would end up as Fake Assassin, the noble servant who is summoned by them as extra muscle.

Red Scare fills the True Assassin role, because in direct combat she is weak, and relies on trickery/surprise attacks/keikaku for any real damage. What does that mean for William? No idea.

So, how many anons have an idea for what they intend to build for MHA (assuming you're interested in it)? I'm mostly asking out of curiosity, but as a bonus, MHA anon might look at our build ideas and get some inspiration.

Depends on how the cyoa turns out. I don't like having too much stuff preplanned in case it just doesn't work. My preferred method of making characters (both for cyoa and ttrpg) is looking at the options available and build around them.
I do have some basic ideas:
-if we're in Japan, then a student or hero who teleports behind people and attacks with his katana
-if we're in Brazil and the powers work for this, then it might be an uppity Gracie kid who wants to show that BJJ is the best and wants to promote it for Heroes to learn by becoming one himself.
-If somewhere else, then I was thinking about a Support character who's a retired hero and now works as a policeman. Near the retirement age and constantly whines how he's too old for this shit.

The more builds there is the bigger chance I'll start skipping them. And usually unless I plan to include them in a writefag I don't read into them too deeply (like each skill etc) instead just reading summaries. I get especially motivated when making relationship charts.

Personally I find organization, interaction and concise writing to be key. Consider how the Torential Tide formed in OR, or how the original HP ally sheet evolved. Both were large but their formatting and relevance allowed them to flourish.

it actually surprises me hearing some people skip builds since that's kinda the whole point of /mcyoag/.
I get people liking their own characters and wanting to see them in stories made by anons but I always found it fun to read other people's builds just to see what kind of characters people make in a CYOA's world and I like seeing the diversity of builds people make or how creative they get with skills or background/character info to use a set of skill if they're limited

I definitely agree. But I think it's also a matter of etiquette. Sure the HP ally sheet looked prettier than how we usually compile builds here, but its not like that's the sole reason anons were interacting the way they did. Same with the Torrential Tide and Support Spider's build compilation. Anons were looking to cooperate way before that was made (Though the CYOA itself obviously facilitated that.)

To me it sometimes seems like there were just unspoken rules or naturally shared behavior that didn't fully carry over here. Hard to put into words.

Oh no, too many suboptions involved. With flesh manipulation you can have quirks that mess exclusively with blood, bones, or muscles, or quirks that control all of those at the same time, while plants have different components. I don't wanna leave a template too bloated.

The first budget of the City was 200 points, but as a I runned through the CYOa, I found it to be too little, so this was when I decided to up the budget to 250 points, and better the freebies. The initial equipment section was 50 points of stipend for everyone who wasn't an artificer,m and 100 to artificer, but like with the budget, I upped it to 100 and 150 instead.

With the little experience I have, I'd say that the ideal point is when you can make a fun build, but without going overboard with the points. The more sovful you can make it with the initial budget, the better. Add drawbacks as they come for those who want to make mmore elaborate builds/with more gimmicks or options.

I agree. I think that's why Outer Reincarnation ended up as soulful as it did. You didn't really have that many points for the personal options save one or two choices that gave you extras. And the strength of most of the abilities was vague enough that you needed to put in some effort to explain how they'd work for your character.

I think there's such thing as too many drawbacks, though, especially if they aren't universally detrimental enough. If you can make some demigod freak in a world of street level characters, because you don't care about half of the drawbacks, that's not great for MP. I think a reasonable amount of clearly detrimental drawbacks is ideal. All of them should be impactful enough that taking one or two makes your character more interesting, not less, and taking more than that should basically be suicide.

My personal view is that any good cyoa is basically just a really advanced writing prompt generator, and that applies to drawbacks as well. You should take drawbacks because it will make your characters more interesting, rather than just because you need points.
