I'm actually quite fond of working with various reds. Maybe it's just the paints I'm using but I find they have great coverage and are always nice and vibrant. Purples I find don't cover quite as well but it's a nice striking color when finished, I think it'll be the primary color for my HotA.

I've used a lot of Mephiston Red and Screaming skull. Since the two pair well with eachother and with a clear green and a bit of dark gray, they're in most of my colour schemes.

Don't we all? Listbuilding was great. The /yourdudes/ feel was even greater. Things functioned like they were supposed to for 40k units. You could literally just take your 40k models and have a totally great and functional team (which is what Kill Team has always been about at its core). No babyshapes. No endless video game-inspired balance tweaks.

Now it's like a game designed by fags who played pre-painted minis games such as HeroClix and X-Wing for a similar audience of hobbyless shitters. Unfortunate.

Keeping the cheapest leader option to use as a CP battery was godawful. Alternating turns rather than activations was cancer and aids. No one played KT18 and for good reason, it was a bad game. Thankfully, they fixed it almost entirely with the new edition.

I sometimes get nostalgic for the previous edition until I remember how terribly it played. Mechanically it was like a worse version of Mordheim or Necromunda except without the rich aesthetic/flavor and immersive campaign system to make up for the absolutely jank gameplay.

A 50/50 split between primaris and old marines, with lore playing into the outsider conflict that produced.
A team of all sword-wielding black templars.
A CWE outcasts team, led by a ranger and utilizing looted equipment like imperial meltaguns and a variety of rifles.
A more mixed style DW team, involving all manner of units.
None of which work in KT21, sadly. Though I did recently realize that I could retool the necron minis that I never used for a hierotek team if I can just find something to represent the plasmacyte operatives.
Listbuilding was much better back then, and I personally enjoyed models being extra tough with the injuries they suffered rather than the extreme lethality that makes KT21 so swingy sometimes.
21 still wins massively in every other department though, much more fun to play in practice. Just a shame that all my old /mydudes/ lore went out the window.

5 models is probably the better solution if you can't involve support units to beef up the numbers instead. I personally don't see why terminators should really have more wounds than marines, when increased toughness from DF or SV increase is good enough to represent the armour and doesn't require the team to be made into a custodes-tier borefest. As for powers, I don't see any reason not to get an at least partially new selection, that are more interesting perhaps for terminators. The +1 save power would either be useless or overpowered for terminators (depending on if you give them SV2+ or DF4 respectively), so that should definitely be switched out.

this. Playing with four walking mega tanks does not sound like my kind of shit. Yeah, Gellerpox is exactly that, but I haven't played against them yet and at least they're original to a degree. I would have for this game to completely devolve into 4v4 mech fights. There's a ton of marine and Tyranid shit to do before terms. Just seems like it would be a waste of a release.

You could do this as an Intercession Kill Team, just kitbash all their chainswords to real swords, done and dusted. Or buy the Crusader Squad Primaris and do it that way.

The injury rules in KT2018 were aids. Giving units a pool of wounds was the right decision when Warcry started it and KT2021 used it.

Based and correct. It was a gamble by GW to bring them back and it failed. The only people who "like" Votann are the nogames reddit basedfaces who talk a lot but don't play and pretend "muh Squats were my favorite as a kid!" when they never owned shit and didn't play. I like plain old retributor armor. It's too bright and yellow on its own, but various washes give it a very nice effect. Liberator gold for highlights. Silver for fine highlights.
Bronzes are usually better for something that reads as an authentic looking good though.

Fair enough, but people seem to really like Cadians, and Kasrkin are more suitable for Kill Team than standard Cadian troopers (need to keep unit sizes smaller). Kill Team is a good opportunity to insert a squad from a different Regiment, one that's maybe too eccentric for full-Regiment treatment in 40k (which apparently is anything that isn't Cadians).

Given how oversaturated Warhams is with Muhreens, though, there's better targets for ire than Cadians/Kasrkin.

Lol. There is literally no such thing as a Guard player who focuses on Cadia except for, like, a guy on YouTube. It's just one regiment among many and loved for unique reasons though, yes, there are cooler regiments. Kasrkin are probably their most rad and stand-out unit due to its long and storied history in the fluff, particularly alongside the Inquisitor Eisenhorn. But they're just one regiment's cool dudes alongside many others, like Krieg Grenadiers and Death Riders, Catachan Devils, Armageddon Steel Legion, etc. etc.

My favorite are the Kanak Skull Takers. Picrel, a friend a decade ago made a whole army of them.

Beyond that, the only uncool thing Guard have are Tempestus Scions, which are nuGW copyright bait trash. If you didn't play before their introduction then you literally don't have any right to speak about The Guard.

"More bodies" is what they've done with Chaos Blooded or Gellerpox Infected, I'm not saying it can't be done, but that doesn't seem to be the route GW/players want the game to go. "Penal Legion" is also kinda generic, so the Chem Dogs are technically a penal legion, but one with a specific look (and presumably one that is slightly better equipped and with more specialist training than a generic penal legion).

For any proxy army the most important thing is making sure mechanically distinct models are distinctive enough and identifiable as the unit they're proxying.
The easiest way to do this is weapon swaps so that you have the right weapons on the model and they are unambiguously recognizable. But failing that, you just have to make sure their weapons look at least vaguely, fairly similar to the types of weapons you plan to use.
HotA might not be a bad idea. You've got clearly distinct rifles, pistols, and blasters and a few melee weapons.
You could also go for AdMech since their weapons look pretty similar to this lot, though you would need some different melee weapons to add to some of them and bigger bases.

Marines scouts could actually work. They're just as 8 wound 2APL as eldar, but you'd be able to run multiple sniper rifles and shotguns, bolters, and knife+pistol loadouts work quite well to fit the other weapons.

None of them is automatic/easy, but none is really out of the question either. Storm Target means taking the objective marker your opponent defends the hardest, easy to do against a less experienced opponent but against someone that knows how to defend it can end up just being a win more card. Counteract can force you to use your Breach and Clear when it isn't as advantageous, and it sucks against low model count teams, but on the other hand if you're getting kills and taking objectives you're going to have an easier time later in the mission. Into the Breach depends more on the map and mission layout.
So really, they're just right. None too automatic, none too unrealistic. They just require you to think about which one you're likely to be able to achieve each game.

He means the particular application used. Most digital art is saved in layers and very easy to go back and correct specific layers for easy updating to specific parts without having to rework the whole piece.
Things like skeleton structure and the weapon framework should have had establishing lines on lower layers for the artist to paint over in later layers. The holt must have been a later addition because it doesn't seem to line up with the hilt or the blade, but it does kind of line up with that hand.

This isn't 40k. This is Kill Team. A 40k spin-off, sure, but the game uses different rules and so stats don't always translate over 1:1. For example, Flamers auto-hit in 40k but actually require 2+ hit rolls in Kill Team because of how that interacts with other mechanics. Terminators are always 2+ save in 40k, however if we got termies with a 3+ save but DF4 I don't think anyone would complain about it being lore inaccurate (though it would likely be incredibly infuriating to play against). Same thing applies to Kasrkin hitting on 4+ with most of their weapons but having elite points (marksman hits on 3+ or 2+ depending on weapon profile).
Now you might argue that elite points are insufficiently strong, and I would probably agree with you, however in that context their hit chance isn't actually a mistake, just a decision you personally don't agree with. It also isn't likely something that will be "corrected" as doing so would necessitate a rethink of the entire design of the team, and that isn't something GW are likely to do in a balance dataslate. Remember you can always run the kasrkin models with the scion rules if you prefer a more straight forward team that doesn't use a resource system like elite points, a position I can fully sympathise with as a sisters player who doesn't always want to deal with the complexity of Novitiates and instead just blaze away with bolters and power armour using the compendium sisters rules. At least you have the advantage of not needing different models for the two rulesets.

Look, I applaud you for trying but I’m never going to stop asking for Kasrkin to get buffed to their correct BS3+ because I’ve played for 25 years and spent more money on GW products than the entirety of the Kill Team customer base combined. Nope. I wasn't paying attention to releases the week they came out so I completely missed them.
I've played with them once because one guy I knew got a set and it seems like a much better way to set up and play, really cuts back a lot of the book-keeping of setting up a matched play game in the core book. Don't know why they decided to do it as such a limited print run when it seems like such a superior way to play the game.

It is the stat line they have always had since their inception. Nevermind Kasrkin specifically, but all Imperial Guard stormtroopers are intrinsically BS3+. It’s part of their most essential character and the reason people select them for their armies. Because they’re the Golden Boys. The best of the best of the Guard. People use Stormtrooper equivalent units at all not for their carapace armor and hell guns but because they are elite troops who hit on 3s. Anything less is an insult and no amount of mental gymnastics will ever make up for the fact that BS3+ is the defining characteristic of Stormtroopers (Kasrkin included).

Sorry, I think there's a bit of confusion here. You're talking about 40k, where stats are relative to the every other army and there a different set of rules specifically for that game. This is a Kill Team general where we discuss Kill Team. Again, where all stats are given relative to the rest of the game and other teams. So they might have skirmish scenarios for you in the other thread.

Every single other team in the game matches its 40k counterpart because there is an equivalency calculation between the two games. Kasrkin are BS3+ in 40k games.

Been playing Starstriders recently, they're really rad. Maybe even more expansive, rather than full shut down, you can choose 3 seperate actions and block 3 seperate guys from doing them. Its straight up citadel "Valhallan Blizzard" Technical. I received multiple warnings that it is a pain in the dick to work with but I am stubborn so I tried anyway. Considering it is my first attempt at putting any effort into my bases I'm pretty damn happy with how it turned out.
