It seems to me that those issues are usually a product of mismatched expectations between GM or players. Before you even start the first session you should have figured out if this is a serious thing, tongue in check, if your players just want a sandbox to blow shit up in or if they want some kind of story. Doesn't have to be just one thing all the time, but everyone should have had an opportunity to communicate what they want and don't want. Then you meet somewhere in the middle.

If a player is just trying to derail a session just let it play out.
Wanton destruction will attract the attention of the authorities, turn the populace and any bystanders against you, sb will put a bounty on your head, nobody wants to trade with or hire them anymore etc.
It's a roleplaying game, so just roleplay.

Like the one anon said the Legion essentials kit comes with all the starter box stuff sans units and their unit cards. The core rules are offered as a free download on their website. The starter box is best if you want the units that come with it. Also the card upgrade pack is good as it gives you cards that were packaged with things you don't want.

>Are the snows strictly better?
Honestly not sure. Legion is like a team sport were your units play off of each other, one unit setting up the ball for another to spike it so to speak. As example Stormtroopers want aim tokens. General Veers gives 1 aim token to 2 units. The Imperial Officer gives 1 aim token to 1 unit. The Electrobinoculars equipment upgrade gives 1 aim token to 1 unit. To how I see it this is a at a glance between the two, each unit gets 2 actions:

>Stormtroopers
>shoot, shoot
>move 5 inch, shoot
>move 5 inch, move 5 inch

>Snowtrooper
>shoot, shoot
>move 3 inch, shoot, shoot
>move 3 inch, move 3 inch, shoot

Storms move faster and can shoot more accurately with aim tokens, Snow shoot more but are slower and have no extra accuracy bonus. Also note I didn't include aim and dodge actions in the example. "Better" is based on the play style theme you want to play. Everything is out there on the net for you to do your research. It's the nice thing about Legion the company makes its money selling models not rule words (no army books and C&D letters). I need to toss in than I'm not a expert on the game and am myself just getting into it. My initial build is Veers/AT-ST/Storms with sideboard to tweak. Not to discourage but a bit of core Imperial has wave 1 syndrome. When the game came out the minis were made of PVC that is hell to clean mold lines off of. Later stuff is standard polystyrene. Pic of what I have ready to start painting.

you can only take one attack action per turn unless a card lets you cheat (Bossk and Luke command cards for example). Snows are more mobile and dangerous up close than Storms, Storms have better heavy weapons and aim token utility.

Mando season 1 was garbage. Season 2 was a lot better in every way. Season 3 is garbage, except for Bo-Katan arc. Din Djarin and Baby Yoda should have fucked off after S2 and Bo should have become the main character. There is nothing left to do with Din and Grogu, and they just undid their arc for money.

No, it was just better in every way. It was better technically, it didn't feel as claustrophobic and obviously filmed in the Volume, Season 2 also had a clear sense of direction and plot progression: deliver the kid to the Jedi, whereas Season 1 felt like pointless meandering after the first 3 episodes. Some of the best looking and best directed episodes are from Season 2. If you are dumb enough to seethe only because of the established characters, then you are a dumbass, I guess.

As was discussed a thread or two ago, Disney meddling made sure that Rebels was as kid-friendly as possible, with jokes and gags at regular intervals. How much of either show have you watched, because Clone Wars gets "mature" episodes pretty early on.

A direct sequel to Star Wars containing the same characters as Star Wars is a little different than a story set in the Star Wars universe containing the same characters as an entirely separate Star Wars story. An example of what you're describing is people complaining about, say, the sequels fitting in Han Solo and Luke Skywalker only to treat the characters like shit and making the movies worse as a result of them being there, which I'd say is a fair argument.

I am not condescending about movies and cartoons, I am just thinking you are retarded, that's all, and I find it hilarious when people say "dood stah wahz toonz are 4 kids" and then they proceed to gush over fucking Mandalorian or any of the Star Wars movies, which were made for fucking 12 year olds.

There really aren't any "filler episodes" in Rebels, every one winds up being expressly important later on (yes, even the bad episodes with Sabine)
TCW does have some "filler" episodes in the sense that the content of some earlier episodes are never referenced again (Lightsaber Lost for example) but even then I wouldn't skip those. All the Rebels ones have direct bearings on the plot development though, for better or worse. I can't think of a single episode that doesn't feature in some way into one of the major plot points of a climax episode or a season finale.

"Baron" is effectively the same word as "Knight", so you can just figure it as the more modern form of peerage that isn't really tied to feudal landholding. Although for all I know, Imperial pilots who obtain baronetcies are granted planetary fiefs, I don't know that there's ever been any proof one way or the other.

To weigh in on this Storm vs Snow debate, what heavy weapons are available to them also needs to be considered:

Even cheaper! But Cumbersome means you can't move and shoot (you can shoot and move though), and the arrow means you need to recharge it between uses, which kills your action economy since recharging takes an action. Don't use it until you know what you are doing.
>RT-97C - 24 pts - Stormtrooper Extension
Like the DLT-19 with more dice but no Impact. It's usually better than the DLT-19 against normal foes, but more expensive. I'd recommend printing the card and proxying it with a DLT-19 mini if you want to try it, since you need a separate box to get it.
>T-21 - 22pts - Stormtrooper Extension
Shorter range, but range 3 is usually where you want to be shooting most of the time anyway since the rest of you squad is also stuck at range 3. Critical is pretty good to ignore cover and dodges. Again, try to proxy unless you want to play at competitive levels.
Now on the Snowtroopers' side...
>Flametrooper - 20pts - Snowtrooper Unit Box, Blizzard Force Box
Extremely short range, works best with Frag grenades. It works well, ignores cover and melts basic troopers, but it's pretty hard to get cose enough to use
>T-7 Ion Gun - 18pts - Snowtrooper Unit Box, Blizzard Force Box
It's a nice gun, but the need to recharge wastes the main advantage of Snowtroopers, their more flexible action economy.

So yeah, Stormtroopers are usually better than Snowtroopers, since long range is an invaluable advantage in a game like Legion, unless you are playing the smaller Skirmish format.

Where the fuck do I even get dice for EotE?
A friend asked me to start a group with him and I generally like being the guy who brings spare dice for everyone, but this shit is impossible to find an in-stock supply anywhere in person or online. Do they just not make them anymore? Are the shitty 3D printed Etsy sets really the only option if I don't want to use normal d6/8/12s and translate the result?

Also if it wasn't obvious I was roped into this with no knowledge of the system so any advice or warnings about the strengths and weaknesses of EotE would be appreciated.

I bought into EotE in January 2020 as I was inspired by S1 Mandalorian. I have a Plano tackle box with 6 sets of dice I grabbed off Amazon before they went oos.

Her symbol on the door kind of gave it away. And there aren't really any notable Jedi left who could've rescued her that'd make for a big reveal and would be available for a minor cameo. Could be Tera Sinube I guess since he's a youngling instructor and they made a CG model for him in Obi-Wan Kenobi, but I feel like Barriss having a similar arc to Bo-Katan makes a lot of sense at this point given they had all the chances to reveal she was either executed or made an Inquisitor.

Of course her being at the Jedi Temple during Order 66 makes no fucking sense whatsoever, as she was arrested prior to that. And I don't believe that she was somehow released. And if she was, that would greatly deflate the S5 Clone Wars finale, knowing that Ahsoka actually faced death penalty, but Barriss was somehow released after committing treason and bombing the Jedi Temple, and she was able to rescue Grogu in the meanwhile. But frankly, I am not going to be surprised about anythign anymore. Ruining the past is Disney Lucasfilm's modus operandi.

We know Jedi like the Grand Inquisitor were spared execution for helping kill the other guards at the temple. Either Barriss was given an offer to join the Inquisitors. Maybe Anakin even visited her cell and freed her before Knightfall but she betrayed Vader/the Inquisitors once she got to the temple and fucked off with Grogu and some other younglings.

But the simplest explanation is the clones entered her cell at the Republic military base to execute her after receiving Order 66 and she used that opportunity to escape. Then she went to the temple after realizing what'd happened.

And we've known for ages that Barriss wasn't going to be executed for her crimes since Filoni admitted prior to TCW being cancelled that he had plans for her in future seasons and cut the scene where she committed suicide in her cell via nanoexplosive. I think Ahsoka facing the death penalty was egged on Palpatine who knew the death of his padawan would bring him closer to the dark side. I think with Barriss he didn't care as much.

The Bo-Katan comparison is especially apt since the current shows sort of gloss over the fact she was terrorist, they shouldn't but if she gets a pass there's no reason Barriss has to be a full on villain. But Bo's change of heart came when Maul took over Mandalore and killed her boss and sister, so I think Order 66 and the rise of the Empire will be a similar kind of wake up call for Barriss. And hopefully if Barriss is in the Ahsoka show they don't gloss over her terrorist bombing like they forgot about the blood on Bo-Katan's hands.

Anakin was never included in Order 66. Palps met him at the end of TPM, the Chosen One, "We will watch your career with great interest." Just 10 years before Attack of the Clones, around the same time the clone army was created and Dooku & Sheev co-opted it. You could see it in Clone Wars S6 with Tup lashing out at Tiplar & Tiplee, but never at Anakin. Anakin was Sheev's game all along.

But it doesn't make sense that *anyone* would be spared at the Jedi Temple.

With Anakin yeah I think it was baked into the clones programming not to kill him because Palpatine had plans for him. I will say though that the clones didn't immediately murder Ahsoka in the hangar at the end of TCW. Rex tries to reason with them. So if Anakin or a commanding officer were to tell the clones that a Jedi is exempt from the order because they've renounced their faith I guess it would work.

Anon probably loathes that too. Personally I dig Rex being the guy on Endor (at least he was officially there anyway) mostly because we see him in scout trooper armor. Surprising just how well it works. That and rebel Saint Nick was never my sacred cow, so for me nothing of value is really lost.

Mostly I like the idea that not just any clone trooper but Anakin Skywalker's own clone commander was there at the end helping undo what Vader and the Emperor had done. I find the idea rather satisfying.

Well according to Henry Gilroy I think, the backstory for Grand Inquisitor is that he saw the clones marching on the temple and decided to start murdering the other members of the temple guard in the chaos because he always resented the Jedi for giving him that job after failing the trials.

I'd imagine Anakin was fighting some Jedi and the GI arrived, the Jedi let their guard down because they thought he was there to help but he murdered them instead, so that made it very clear to Anakin he was an ally and not just a coward who'd say anything to stay alive.

That too. I can't remember what Gilroy said specifically about the Grand Inquisitor during Knightfall but he acted like he did have some prior knowledge. So he knew about Order 66, was notified ahead of time by Palpatine and he killed the temple guards to make it easier for Anakin to enter.

but with slug throwers (or even self-correcting gyro-jet type rounds) all you really need is a flash suppressor.

Well see, Ukraine didn't wanna do that until a mass revolution happened. That revolution happened to be spurred by and supported by the US, and they spent a good amount of money on deciding who would end up leading the country after that revolution (specifically making sure they were staunchly anti-Russia). That's when Russia invaded Crimea and a couple of eastern Ukrainian territories decided to declare themselves Russian, and from that point onwards outright war between Ukraine and Russia was inevitable (or if we want to be realistic, the war had already begun in 2014).

And then it proceeds to show (but never directly tell) the audience that it either improved the lives of most people, made the galaxy a safer palce for most people, reduced crime, etc.
It then shows that teh Republic gave everyone freedoms, but was corrupt. It shows the New Republic, which gave everyone 'freedom' but turned out to be a bureacratic dystopia.

What's amusing about this analysis is that the writing for Star Wars post Disney has been aggresively, almost jingoistically determined to portrayal the Rebels and Jedi in the my positive light imaginable while simultaneously villainbatting the Empire and reducing them to cartoon villains who are treated as narrative canon fodder and, for the most part, not given the depth and complexity you'd see for a story around the OT era. But in part because of the sequels (and partly just due to lazy internal coordination and worldbuilding between Lucasfilm's writers) everything we know about the NR paints them as an abject failure who completely failed to live up to their ideals, even worse than their EU counterpart.

It's just so weird that the paramilitary cult of personality that Leia's commanding is treated as the "good" faction, for, ya know, threatening to drag the galaxy into a new war that most factions are not prepared for and would not support. Forgetting that the classic good vs evil is a core element in the Star Wars mythos is a big reason why the franchise is in its current state.

When there's no difference between the villains and heroes, there's no reason to join the rebellion to overthrow the empire, because you just changed the uniform color of the despots in power. Which is why Lando's call for help would have been met with a resounding "FUCK YOU!" because no one would want to bring back the government that was mindraping people without a trial and didn't keep the criminals from razing places whenever they wanted.

If they were more intelligent, I'd think they were trying to pull a KOTOR 2, but not realizing they were doing it on a scale that KOTOR 2 was never meant to operate at. The cynicism turns to bleakness and hopelessness when you take it out of the context of a single video game and apply to the whole franchise.

There isn't an issue with expanding outside of the core principles. The problem is when you make both sides exceptionally retarded. The Prequel Republic was intentionally not a great place. It was a state in decline, the same was true of the Old Jedi Order under Yoda and Mace. They lived in a literal ivory tower. Luke grew above their failures. The idea that he would restore a replica of the failed Jedi Order or that the New Republic would replicate the failures of the Old is as pants-on-head retarded as the idea that the Imperials would commit collective suicide just because some holograms told them to.

This is what I'm trying to get at. The way they've had to contort the setting and smack it over the head with stupid stick to justify their stories combined with subconscious cynicism creates an unintentional bleakness. It's not supposed to be gray, but it accidentally ends up that way anyway.
To put it another way entirely, both the EU and Disney canon have no lasting peace in the galaxy. There's always conflict, but the nature of the continuous conflict is different. In the EU, the good guys are playing whack-a-mole. There's always a new threat they need to smack down to maintain the freedom and prosperity they've won. In Disney canon, the good guys are presented with a sysiphean challenge. The whole setting seemingly wants to regress by nature and the conflicts are just a constant uphill with no real end in sight, no real victories along the way. In practical terms, it's a subtle difference, but I think it's an important difference in vibe.

The EU was comics, books and games so it could be all about the new adventures of Luke and friends since people love that shit - Disney Wars' original plan was entirely about a new series of films and that means you can't have it be the new adventures of Luke and friends, they're too old to be action heroes. So, what do you do? You bring the familiar in the form of the Empire and having the main characters be rebels fighting them. In both cases it's lazy fanboy shit but Disney's constraints directly relate to how it represents the New Republic.

Star Wars has always been, like all fantasy settings, completely out of scale with the real implications of its setting because it needs to feel believable to people who can't imagine things at that scale. In an actual setting where there's trillions of people (probably more like quadrillions given that uninhabitable planets aren't really a thing in Star Wars), wars and politics would be at a scale far too massive for us to imagine. We need stories where one person can make a difference, and that inherently requires fudging things.

Comparing the Wayfarer to the HT-2200 annoys me to no end. The HT carries less cargo, has worse speed, worse shields, worse strain, can't detach it's containers, and costs 20,000 credits more, all for two more passenger cabins, a ventral turret, and a bit more hull points and a single point of armor. That floorplan doesn't look even remotely accurate to the ship. I mean, all the other art I've seen suggest that the central cockpit module is the same as that of any other Corellian freighter, which would make that floorplan about twice the size that the ship actually is.

The scale on that layout is wildly off.

Each of those cargo bays is like 50m long and the entire ship is 55m in length canonically. It's upscaled wildly to the actual vessel.

It's worth keeping in mind that the Wayfarer only has 220 tons of cargo space if the cargo pod isn't attached, requires 10 crew to the HT-2200's 2 (indicating the HT-2200 is a far more efficient ship with more automation), which makes the roughly doubled price more reasonable.

I'm not sure what Episodic Maps was making there, but it wasn't an HT-2200. Maybe an HT-2400 that has a much larger cargo capacity. At a SWAG, assuming a metric ton takes up a 1.5 cubic meter volume in shipping pack, that ship could carry 1500 metric tons. Probably more, reasonably.

That's still a medium freighter, but a much more profitable one for a skilled captain.

Most Star Wars RPGs rightfully tell you to veer away from worrying about those details because the point is putting pulp action front and center. Cargo margins aren't really what most people think of with Star Wars.

Can I build an app that will do reasonable good/hyperlane value approximations? Sure. Why would I? I don't want to run that game. My players don't want to play that game. In either of my Star Wars games. Even the one that is specifically and explicitly about Rebel Alliance Acquisitions. Because the moving of product is tertiary to the pulp adventures they get into going after Separatist weapon caches or poorly-guarded Imperial depots and the soap opera that happens between well-played characters.

The other game ended up with something similar to a Wayfarer because they had been slumming on a shuttle for too long. The campaign went a bit different in direction than I'd set out for, but flying around is never bad in Star Wars. Having a nice freighter to do it in is pretty key to player comfort. Starships are like mobile castles if you look to D&D for a corollary.

Anyway, enough ranting. Please provide more ideas for attachment pods for best freighter.

I think for an astromech-assisted ship like that, you probably just point close to the right spot and then let the astromech take the shot. Outside of that you use the targeting indicator or you just spray and pray.

the ot had a far simpler good and evil dichotomy, and it worked because the bad guys wanted (actually) end democracy and ruled through force and fear. the good guys just wanted to be bale to live in peace and freedom. now everyone simply is. is good. is evil. but outside of that they're just mostly regular people. and this could be compelling, if you have a good story, script, effects, acting, and something to say.

If you've got the Clone Wars Core Set, I'd recommend getting more B1s (see if you can pick them up cheap off of someone who wants to play Republic via ebay or Facebook), the Separatist Specialists pack (gives you some extra command cards among other useful things), Dwarf Spider Droids (they're great) and the Super Tactical Droid.
The AAT is arguably the single best tank in the game. Has full armor (can only be wounded by crits) and red saving dice, and can equip High-Energy Shells to give it attack pools which ignore dodge tokens entirely.

As for Blizzard Force; it's a boogeyman, but has to be played *well*. Played by an average player, it is just an Empire list with four bikes instead of three. Focus on playing the objective, and if you can plug a shot into a dodge-less Vader, do it.

There are 9 separate cabins, 4 of which have double bunks anon. Room for 13 in other words.

Even if you're using the derpy-as-fuck deck plan from Polyhedron, it explains in the article text that the three cabins left of center are triple bunks for crew. Meaning there's room for 11 aboard. 12 if the owner is sharing. But don't use that one, it's dumb as heck; no room for engines. Use this one.

The Wayfarer is rightfully beloved. I'm not sure I'd call it a medium transport, personally, as that scale of freight work is still tramp freighter territory. But it's a solid ship. Plus the ability to build/acquire pods to replace the cargo pod make it even more valuable.

I use the Polyhedron layout as the default layout, simply because it's the official layout, and modify the ship from there. It's not perfect but I really can't get into fan layouts like the one you posted. The scale always seems off, somehow.

As for why the group converted half the pod into living space, it's because we couldn't decide which planet to buy manors on (living on separate planets, or renting accommodation, would mean spending MORE money over time). In the end, I jokingly suggested that we convert the pod to housing, buy some undeveloped land on a few different planets and just drop it down whenever we want a vacation. It was a decent compromise but we ended up needing SOME cargo space, if only to not have to buy a second ship for hauling, so only the back half of the pod was converted.

After that, we figured that it'd make sense to convert the offices in the ship into additional rooms. Since we were already spending the credits for the 'extreme luxury' theme, we decided that the passenger cabins would have bigger beds for couples/fatfucks, instead of the default bunk beds. Technically the same amount of passenger space, but with less incentive for single passengers and annoying jedi to come aboard. Padawans were no longer allowed to share the same room as their masters, specifically so we could double charge the Jedi. They lost our characters' goodwill after the time that one commandeered the ship as part of the plot and after we got it back, no one at the temple was willing to apologise or pay for the repairs

Yeah, but it's still in the same ship size class as a light freighter. In SWSE, that means it can take Combat Thrusters and be able to dogfight like a Starfighter (which isn't a smart thing to do since actual starfighters are more nimble than your freighter, but it's still an optimal upgrade for any qualifying ship, because it also makes it harder for capital class ships to hit the ship)

As you noted, the contrast between the two is notable, and I would go so far as to say it isn't even accidental in being gray. It's a subtext in most settings anymore: no more heroes, and if they are, they are marginally, if that, better than the villains they fight.
There's settings for playing these kinds of characters, but turning Star Wars into game of thrones in space doesn't work.
