As a guy who plays a super fast in Mobile Army, of course I would benefit from larger table sizes.
But the current table size works well to allow slower armies to have a chance to corner quicker ones. And to allow melee heavy armies to challenge shooting heavy ones.
Bigger tables also leads to deep strike becoming more overpowered and screening to be less effective. And that's not a meta that anyone wants to see.

The Charnel Reapers, a warband of former World Eaters who are led by Grand Smelter Derakar, a Warpsmith who fled the Black Legion after a failed coup against Abaddon. The warband had devolved so badly that they actually killed off everyone who knew how to fly their ship during a particularly bad Warp transit and wound up crashing onto the desolate moon of the planet they'd intended to invade. They were stuck there for months, butchering the entirety of the mortal crew in fits of madness and coming dangerously close to doing the same to each other when the smith found them and made them a deal. In exchange for fighting where and when he said, they would receive the best possible armor and weapons, fresh aspirants, and an endless supply of worthy foes. Without any other options, they agreed. Derakar was as good as his word and gave them all shiny new weapons and the best armor he could make, with some modifications inspired from the histories he'd read. Now the Khornate warriors are kept locked inside their own scrapcode-tainted armor pretty much all the time they aren't fight, continuously injected with sedating chemicals and occasionally fed to peckish daemon engines by the Chosen that make up the rest of the warband. The Khorne Berserkers themselves have basically deteriorated into rabid animals from the prolonged periods of immobile solitude and the continuous dosages of mind-altering chemicals. They don't even really know they're be used to wage a spiteful guerilla war against the Black Legion, but wouldn't care if they did.

Anyone have any advice on fighting space manlets or are they too new? I just got my cheeks clapped 2 games in a row at 1k points against them. The autowounding and extra -ap within half range, really fucked me up. The second game went better with me hiding behind terrain the entire time but I still lost on vp since every time a squad poked their head out it got evaporated within a turn.
I’m running a salamander gravis blob with reroll support but with the no wound rerolls I just couldn’t get consistent damage output.

Try and find some parchment paper background template for the paper and a "not too gothic that it is unreadable" font.
You could just use the naturalcrit website's homebrewery template though that might take some getting used to.

As for supplementary images if /yourdudes/ are painted then maybe give PDF related a look and with GIMP or a cracked version of photoshop have fun editing your dudes to look like they're in combat with some greenscreen magic.

They're not too new and they're pretty balanced, if you're getting clapped by them at 1k then it's likely down to you. Maybe consider running a successor chapter since you can't reroll wounds.

votann have strong anti-elite and are very good at countering an all the eggs in one basket approach, you're better off drowning them in bodies since they lack weight of fire. Push objectives hard, you should have control of the board early game since votann struggle to get anywhere fast, especially at 1k where sagitaurs and land fortresses come at much more of a premium.

I agree. That jump pack is not good. They should have gone for something similar to Sanguinary Guard or Azkellion's armor. I'm tired of aims-a-pistol poses as well. He's got that axe, he should be posed ready to strike with it against a foe on the ground, or coming down for an atack. I would prefer both feet on the ground. Jumping around using a pistol is not what the Blood Angels are about. He should be on the ground squared up or charging forward in liftoff, not gently floating sideways taking potshots.

Thanks, I tried going hard on objectives the first game but it just let them keep stacking judgement tokens so by the time they got an angle they just nuked my stuff. It’s for crusade so it’s a little jank, I’ll try adding some more cheap troop options with my next reqs so I can swap them in when I end up against the votann in the future.

The aggressors did great work but could only do so much against them. They’d kill 2 units of hearthkyn and then his other stuff would wipe them and be able to roll up my eradicators and intercessors thanks to the army wide invuln they have.

JTs are a definite noob trap that a lot of people get mad at without realising they mostly control. He can only get so many JTs per turn, avoid action based secondaries/agendas, use cheap troops to hold down objectives and take out the kahl as soon as possible and he'll be struggling to stack them. Crusade is going to be jank if you're running it off power rather than points since you're basically letting them have their release points level which was broken. It's definitely worth adding in a unit of eliminators to take out the kahl, that's where he's getting the majority of his useful JTs and has to expose it to get the value out of it.

Overlays are your friend for something like this. Plenty of free online overlays or textures you can download and slap over a document in photoshop to give your documents an aged paper look. Try to break up the text into various places as well - gives readers a bit of time to rest their eyes between sections and if you can fit images in there too, all the better.

The lore is a WIP and inspired by irregular militaries.
My guard dudes are an excuse to use whatever 3rd party bits/minis/3D printed dudes so long as I paint them in matching colours.

They're essentially a Cadian doctrine following unit that was regularly assigned to deal with worlds that declared independence from the Imperium. A horrible culture of looting the defeated enemy's gear and supplies took root and while they remained loyal to the Imperium they became hard to work with.

While there was no shortage of recruits to be press ganged they began to be supplied less due to their culture of looting which resulted in them not able to support themselves so they would go on more campaigns against seceding worlds to support themselves almost exclusively to resupply. Some believe this was a compromise in favor of a more important guard regiment.

Post Fall of Cadia they now resemble an irregular cobbled militia the size of a guard regiment. Tech priests loath to work with such regiments due to rampant "jury rigging" tech heresy among lasgun gear and potential belligerent machine spirits of said jury rigged weapons. Commissars feel that command over such a regiment is a form of penance not just due to the massive uniform violations but also due to the need for excessive numbers of them to maintain order.

They still fight on and they are may not be the first of their kind nor the last.

I've ordered Victoriaminiatures and Madrobot bits so far. The dollary doos really add up. Be warned if you wanna try something like this.

I’m guessing you’re using citadel, but any line works with this:
1st coat: rhinox hide or dark reddish brown
2nd coat: 1:1 mix of rhinox and mephiston red or your first coat color mixed with red
3rd coat: just your red except in the deepest recesses
4th coat: one last go over with red just on the raised edges
Of course make sure to thin your paints

General concept was a small special forces unit attached to a kroot list. Usually facing DA and CSM. Skyrays to deal with a Talonmaster or Heldrake and to throw down marker lights that the rest of the army can make use of
Sniper Coldstar just sits at the back and can't get shot with Mirror up, then fucks off anytime something gets close
Crisis Suits work their way down enemy backlines
CSM and DA usually play each other so expect they're tooled up for heavy infantry so instead to throw a horde of 'melee' at them to hold them up while I try to isolate the more fragile things
Don't think DA player is all deathwing, he has a load of Tacticals from his heresy list

Last time I painted red cloaks/robes I just drybrushed (or better wetbrushed) Scab Red over black and then the same with Blood Angels Red.

Try to use some darker colours and upgrade to the lighter ones (either using different ones or mixing them).

Tbf I'm no expert painter as I'm far too impatient and lazy - I just want results, not a Golden Demon.

Warhammer is at it's absolute worst in entirely RAW pickup games with strangers. Even tournies at least have judges to halt arguments and keep shit moving. mephiston, the salamanders guy, and both the dark angles ones are 8/10

tigurius, calgar, and the iron hands guy are 7/10. calgar would be lower because his pose is a serious downgrade, but his honour guard are fantastic

white scars dude is "wheres my bike"/10

space wolf guy and imperial fist guy are 6/10. they're fine

shrike and dante are dumb pose/10

all of them except for shrike and maybe calgar are upgrades over their previous models though, regardless of their score

No but I think it should be brought back to 6x4. Standard plywood comes in 8x4 sheets making it perfect for making tables. 4' is also a comfortable distance for most people to reach across. I think if the game wanted to scale beyond that then something like a 15mm game would be in order.

The rules for specific wargear change so quickly its sad, and while i would admittedly rather see someone stick to their chapter of choice regardless of "the current meta," it is ultimately not my army, and therefore not my issue. I ignore the mission and secondary objectives and play to table my opponent. I let them keep score I never even count the victory points.

Roar very loudly every time I declare a charge.

Always shake their hand with a smile whether I win or lose.

10 wins 2 draws 14 losses

Absolute best games I've ever had. I can't believe I used to waste my time taking this game seriously.

My best opponent showed up with like 150 Guardsmen and stayed in character the whole game acting out his sergeants calling for backup over the radio and shit. I tabled him with my last bug on 2 wounds when he failed a morale check and his last squad ran off the board. Had a great time after the game talking about the stories those soldiers would tell of the day they were the only survivors from their company of the Bulldozer Swarm.

It worked decent at several points. 7th it worked largely fine. 8th saw Imperial Soup being too good, but that was more of a lack of reasonable monofaction incentives than bad rules about allying. 9th spun the dial the otherway and you lose really important rules for daring to have allies.

I think on nigger tables the game works better, but also becomes more cumbersome to play. Movement matters more, range matters more, transports and flyers have more utility, etc, but games also take longer to set up and complete.

The economy was fragile before the war. Under Ork occupation, it completely collapsed. Food imports halted, and food production stalled as workers abandoned their posts while Ork occupiers looted the city.

The gangers just did was obvious - kill, then eat the occupiers. They actually have a hard time understanding why others find it shocking.

Commissars attached to them look the other way, since commissars that get too iron fisted just tend to go missing or have accidents.

Are Votann fun to play? I have not ran into anyone who has a sizeable enough of an army to play against yet.

Though I suppose it's not a completely ready army yet. I would not make a 2k army list with them until they get more models.

Sure, they are very fundamental warhammer, it reminds me a lot of playing something like 3rd or 4th edition space marines. Everything is very simple, very reliable, does what it says on the tin with very few fancy tricks or maneuvers needed.

They've got captains, terminator combat captains, librarians, and techmarines. You've got basically the old tac squads with 2 special weapons and a Sgt with a power sword or power fist. You've got terminators that are a bit more shooty than punchy. You've got bikers with basically an attack bike built into the squad. You've got devestator heavy weapons teams, razorback, and landraiders. Berserks are the only thing without a direct marine unit analogue, they are closer to genestealer cult abberants, but otherwise you are basically playing old-school marines

drill the barrels, get a cheap pin vice and some tamiya bits.

scrape the moudlines before your prime

tidy up the colors (this comes with practice and better brush control)

Get mournfang brown from citadel or Vallejo model color flat brown. It's a good versatile chocolate brown, go for doombull brown for redder brown. You can paint leather brown, wash it with agrax then highlight it again with the same brown ez pz

Get a khaki/eggshell color for the kilt and cloth

most importantly, get a wash like agrax earthshade or nuln oil. it's worth the money. Put it in the metal details or recesses for instant depth.

And next time prime in a lighter color that would make painting red easier, nobody likes doing 2+ layers of red over a black prime

I like the sagitaur as it gives me the same moon buggy and astronaut vibes as the helmet visors but yeah, the land fortress thing is an ugly box.
