- Tommy makes a speech, rallying the townspeople to join him in finding and killing Michael, declaring “evil dies tonight!”
- The mental patient wanders in at that moment, seeking treatment from a wound from when his bus crashed.
- Someone identifies him as Michael, and an angry mob begins chasing him around the hospital to kill him. Karen realizes they have the wrong man and tries to protect him.
- The mental patient panics and jumps off a window to his death. Laurie confirms it is not Michael. Karen leaves to find Allyson.
- Meanwhile, Lonnie figures out Michael is going back to his childhood home, which has been renovated and is now owned by a gay couple, Big John and Little John.
- Michael kills Big John and Little John and lies in wait. When Allyson, Cameron and Lonnie arrive, Michael ambushes them and kills Lonnie and Cameron, then breaks Allyson’s leg.
- Just as Michael prepares to kill Allyson, Karen arrives and steals his mask to lure him into a trap at a nearby playground, where Michael is ambushed and viciously beaten by the townspeople.
- Michael suddenly turns the table and kills several townspeople, including Brackett. He stabs Tommy, but we don’t know if it’s lethal.
- Karen goes back to check on Allyson, who is being tended to by some of the townspeople, then is drawn to what was once Judith’s room.
- Michael comes up behind Karen and stabs her to death. The frenzied crowd drowns out her screams, and Allyson doesn’t her mother crying from help from upstairs.
- As the crowd flees into the streets, causing even more chaos, Laurie calls Karen. Michael picks up the phone and she hears his breathing, realizing that her daughter is dead.
- Movie ends with Laurie picking up the knife that Allyson left her and preparing to go after Michael once and for all.
