My friend did it because he wanted to protect his money from high inflation rates. Always kept bugging me for storing all my money on a bank account and not investing into anything. It would appear I'm now better off than him by literally not doing anything, because he did invest into Luna besides other cryptocurrencies, which went down as well.

cash is unironically a decent move in this market because even though inflation is bad most stocks are so overvalued the correction will lose you more money than you'll lose to inflation.

Real estate in some markets is the other relatively safe investment, some markets will probably crash back to reality as the rates get raised but coastal markets should perform pretty well longterm.
