>>179680712The worst part is the sheer extent of french kino that will remain totally unknown to most anglos as far as I'm concerned; sure, you can always watch translated versions of french films, but much like trying to woo a woman in a language you do not natively speak, many of the concepts are lost in translation as you say, drastically decreasing the film's value. Especially for french, in which many of the jokes, witty lines and wordplay in films are very difficult to replicate in a language other than french.
Intouchables, l'effondrement, le prenom, le diner de cons, [any film starring alain delon], and many more. Such a shame. I wish we still had a cultural monopoly on the world like the americans now do.
