I watched this same shit happen with broquest on /v/ way back, started as a meme to put all the best vidya tropes together in a game, then people started trying to make it, shit was flung around because different parts weren't what people imagined (though the art was really good) and it ended up flopping and killing the meme because it was now attached to a failed project
