That shit is legit I'm not sure if the entire genre was consciously aware about occult shit they'd drop while talking about extreme violence and spreading chaos. I think subconsciously memphis rap embodies the dark underbelly of hip hop, the underworld if you will. All though triple 6 was openly devilish in their music from the start I don't the the backwards thing works, I tried it (maybe it was the wrong album) and it was useless. But that's not to take away from their music's ability to conjure dark side energy from the beat alone, then with the lyrics on top it's icing on the cake. I'd say a good 80% of the genre is like that. Memphis was an interesting place kek

Lil Terror got me through some hard times with tha album, wouldn't be surprised if it had some occult relevance. The song "a whole new day" encapsulates my experience of living on the edge of suicide. Similarly Guice is a seriously underrated rapper. He does some hilarious straight up gangsta rap horrorcore stuff, but there's a couple tracks where he speaks sincerely about being poor and having nowhere to turn... Great genre, seeing a real conmeback these days with Denzel Curry, XXX etc. on the heavy distortion, horror themes. And ASAP, Cardi B bringing the memphis samples into the mainstream

lots of people hear this and just go "turn these jungle jams off" but others can actually listen to it. it's about knowing how and when to use the samples and they can add layers of complex sound over what's generally a pretty stripped back beat

I talked to him on twitter chat, asked him some questions about back in the day, how he made his beats mostly, what equipment etc. And bought some of his old casettes. Fav memphis rapper and underrated as hell
He was well known in the memphis scene up until i think it was like 2000 got caught bulglaring a neighbour and was in prison til like 2010 or something...
