What is the value of standardized prayer like the orthodox (and I heard the catholics too) do? I mean in the morning say this and this, in the evening say that and that, before lunch this, before going to work that, and so on.

I've always been conflicted by this in religion. Shouldn't prayer be heartfelt, deeply personal and not some clear cut lines that you recite? Or am I actually wrong as fuck and prayer is closer to like an incantation that should be learned from a book?
